BBQ Loaded Baked Potato

For dinner tonight we made a loaded BBQ baked potato. we have added traditional chili two I baked potatoes before and it was delicious but we wanted something a little different so this mainframe nice change. It was delicious!
In a crockpot added:
1 can of kidney beans drained
1 can of great Northern white beans drained
1 can diced tomatoes 
2 cups of organic corn (you can use frozen or canned that make sure you drain)
1 tbls maple syrup honey, agave or dates blended
1 tablespoon organic ketchup (optional)
1 tsp organic mustard
1/2 cup water
Garlic powder
Onion powder
Chopped onions and mushrooms to desired amount.
Cook on low for at least half the day.

Bake potato 45 minutes on 425°
The center open and the bbq beans
Top with: 
Sautéed mushrooms and onions
diced cherry tomatoes and cilantro and salt and pepper to taste:)

Beat the cold juice

It's cold outside and that means fighting off those yucky colds is the new battle. 

During this time of year I feel like I am always praying that we would not get sick:). God is the greatest physician and I believe that whole heartidly! I know that His word says if we ask for wisdom He gives it freely. 

Today I am also thankful for the wisdom and insight to fight off the common cold with whole health and juicing!

There are a few dietary changes that can help in cold prevention.  Cutting sugar and dairy will help you to fight off those nasty colds and so will juicing! Getting as many vitamins as possible, and of course we all know Vitiman C is crucial! 
This juice is packed with vitamins and cold fighting goodness!

This is a quick salad made from some leftovers. Takes just a few minutes.
* Romane Lettuce
* Chili beans from left over chili (pinto, kidney, black beans, corn)
* Olives
*Cilantro
* Fresh mashed avocado

Blueberry, Orange, Grapefruit, and Walnut Oatmeal

Sorry for the not so great picture but...

I have to share this yummy breakfast idea.

Cook your oatmeal as desired and then...
* Add desired amount of frozen organic blueberries (I buy the big bag at costco)
* Raw walnuts
* Slice a piece of orange and grapefruit and squeeze the juices over your oatmeal
*a drizzle of Agave or Honey
You could also sprinkle a little raw or brown sugar over the top if you want a little crunchy texture.

This oatmeal is not only delicious, but it added some extra health benefits to your breakfast. 
Oatmeal  is a great source of fiber, high in protein, and low in fat.
 It helps protect agains heart disease, and reduce bad cholesterol.
With superfood blueberries they help reduce the risk of colon cancer, help our brains maintain, prevent disease and more.

 oranges which are high in Vitamin C and help fight disease, help skin, and alkaline our bodies. 

So this is a breakfast packed full of healthy benefits.

Thanksgiving 1/2 Marathon

So I ran my first half marathon on Thanksgiving day. My awesome hubby and wonderful mom and brother helped prepare and care for the kids so that I can run. It was such a great experience and I loved every minute of it.

It has been my desire to run a Marathon, and I kept saying after I had "all" of our babies I would do it. Well, our fourth is here and is one, we are almost weened, and so I got an itch to do it… now. Yep.

I had some great tips given to me from my amazing Mrs. Kollene and was so inspired by her I decided to start training with 27 days to go before my first full Marathon. 

So, I signed up to run in my first half in thanksgiving:) as my long run:) and then depending on how it went I would go ahead and pay for the full which would be two weeks later. 

To say it was fun may be putting it light. I had a blast! I met a group of awesome girls (7sisters) :) and at mile 5 we chatted the whole way to mile 13. I hardly notice I was almost done and then I climbed a small hill and looked toward the finish line and saw my hubby, kids, mom, and brother and wanted to cry, scream, yell, and sprint all at once:)! Just seeing their faces I felt like I could have ran another 13 at that point. It's amazing how their sweet faces and lives bless my soul! I am so thankful to God for them! 

So most of you by now think I am crazy, but I was doing a little training before I started this venture to a marathon. 

I had been doing insanity and started (running) training two weeks before the 1/2 marathon. I will share my schedule of training soon. I also juiced each day and tried to eat as healthy as possible two weeks before the race. The majority of my juices consisted of kale, carrots, cucumber, apple, and lemons. I also stay away from tea and fried food. Oh and of course drank water water water! In addition I tried to eat a banana a day to help with a good amount of potassium for fighting off cramps. 

My secret weapon is always PRAYER! God's strength is truly what gave me the endurance and grace to finish. He is so good to provide new friends along the way to distract me, to give me legs o run, lungs to breathe, eyes to see, and a family to celebrate with! What gifts each of those are! Truly! He is amazing! Thank you LORD!

 I am so blessed to have finished and so thankful for the opportunity! I look forward to running a full in the future. Please pray for me as I train for the full. 

Running a Marathon is a experience that you should at least try once :) Overall I would totally encourage you to get out and move! If your not a runner the 5K may be perfect because you can also walk it! You can really walk it or walk/run it! Get some friends together and start with a 5K! It's fun, your getting exercise, and its an opportunity to give to others too. As most races donate a portion of the proceeds to a good cause. 
 It was truly a great first experience!

Juice it up

This is what went in our juice this morning.... 
This gave our family of six all a good size glass for each body size. 
Lots of vitamin C and a great way to fight off the cold season.

 But most importantly bathe your family in prayer; that's the best defense we have!!!!
   
One bunch of Kale
1 cucumber 
3 oranges 
2 Apple (green and red)
1 lemon 
Approximately 15 carrots
This makes a great breakfast and can be delicious with a slice of toast!

Kale Costco salad and California buck eye lunch

  7 super salad pack from Costco
I added extra fresh kale and extra fresh brussels sprouts and fresh avocado.

In a separate bowl I took a half a piece of bread added my favorite salsa mixed it together and then put it in the center of the avocado and bake it at 350 for five minutes. I like to turn it to broil for the last minute to give the breadcrumbs a little crispy taste.

 This is so delicious and one of my favorite lunches or snacks. My kids love it too!

Philippines Relief Team

Many of you have asked me how to support, help, or send assistance to the Philippines. I am so humbled by the singer hearts to obey God's call to help those in need! Thank you all for asking! 

My dad has been over there woking first hand with the people and God is doing might works already! 

Although we can't all go, we can all contribute. Sometimes it's a question of where to give... 
Will it really go there? Will it really help? 
Well. I can honestly say I know that giving to U-turn for Christ for the Philippines relief, that the funds go straight to the needs of the people, meeting their need and giving them JESUS! I love knowing that although I can't be there in person, the funds that the Lord is calling me to give are used for not only helping with physical needs (which is of huge importance), but also caring for spiritual needs. Giving food, clothing, shelter, and most importantly Jesus! 
It is amazing to me how the body of Christ can come together to care for each other and those in need from countries apart! Beautiful! Truly Beautiful! Now that's better then any rush of shopping or spending e

Beat juice: whole pantry inspired

So I recently made this juice for us inspired by Healing Belle at the Whole Pamtry App. If you have not checked her out you should! Such an inspiring story of health! So I did not have the original ingredients that she recommends so I created my own recipe inspired by her beat juice. It was delicious! It tasted similar to the dreampsicle, but better and purer! 
Here is the recipe I created: 
2 med size beats
8 carrots
2 apples
1/2 bunch cilantro
So delicious!

California Buckeyes

CALIFORNIA BUCKEYES:
This makes for a great snack or lunch. 
Cut avocado in half and remove the seed
In a bowl crumble (raw/sprouted) bread crumbs
Add a table spoon or two of salsa until bread is covered, but not soggy
Spoon in salsa/bread mix to each side of the avocado top with salt or lime or both
Place in oven for 5 mins on 350 or enjoy it RAW
It's delicious and healthy!

7 experiment


Okay, so I promised to write a little bit more about this amazing Bible study called, quotation mark the seven experiment quotation mark. It has literally been life-changing!

The purpose of the Bible study is too fast from areas are things in our life that we have in excess in order to spend more time focus and prioritize our lives putting Christ first. I love when Hatmaker talks about ridding ourselves of excess in order to make room for Jesus's kingdom to come into our lives personally to transform us and to allow us to be used for him!

It is amazing to me how we fill our lives with so many things that, although may not be bad in of themselves, the excess and the obsession with them are detrimental to our walk with Christ as well as our impact for Him!

This study is about taking Seven areas in our lives that we have in excess and fasting from each of those areas. I love her encouragement in the book to really seek the Lord on how it is he wants you to fast from each category! It has definitely been eye-opening and refreshing all at the same time!

So the first week was on food and we took seven days to fast from some type of food. 

As I began to pray on what the Lord would have made it to I felt like I need to fast from something I kept going to. Have you ever found yourself going to, gravitating towards, or turning to a certain food? For the most part I do try to eat healthy but before the study I had found myself turning to food in a way that I should have been turning to Jesus. Even in healthy eating you can be calm access and allow that to be a god. Healthy eating in and of itself is not a bad thing, but I had found myself in a place where I was thinking about it a lot and then when I failed to eat healthy because of busyness or stress, I would becoming emotional or discouraged. Instead of turning to the Lord I would let the cycle repeat. 

It is by God's sweet spirit and soft grace  He has opened my eyes through this fast to the freedom He desires us to have in all areas of life! So that we may be freed up to hear Him, know Him, serve Him and glorify Him! That is when we are truly satisfied! 

It has been so great to take time to stop and allow the Lord to open my eyes, clean out my heart, and refocus my life on Him! I am looking forward to all He wants to do!

I would encourage you to take a fast from one area in your life where you feel you are turning to that instead of turning to Christ! Do it for a week a month or more pray on it and ask God to do the work! He is so faithful to teach, train, and use!

Pastor Chuck Smith: What a legacy of Joy in Jesus

The joy of The Lord! What a legacy Pastor Church Smith left! 
So thankful for his obedience to follow Christ! He not only was a  great Bible teacher, pastor, and wonderful man of God, but I so respect that He truly made disciples as God calls us to! He didn't everyone to himself! Although his church was big, he raised up and sent out others to plant churches and ministries that would spread the good news of the Lord! My family, mu dad's ministry (U-turn for Christ) and church (Calvary Chapel Romoland) are a few of the many who are discipeling sharing the hope of Jesus because of Pastor Chuck's humble passion to keep it about JESUS and not about the man! I truly respect that!

I was in the sixth grade when I heard him speak at Calvary chapel christian camp about being filled with the joy of the Lord! he used the analagy of a cup. He said, "You need to be reading the Bible and praying to allow Him(the Lord) to not only fill you up.... But to overflow you with His JOY and all that God is so that you can be used and glorify Him." 

Such truth! 

 Pastor Chuck did that! He met with God daily in the word and prayer and he was able to overflow to others! many others! Overflowing with joy and the hope of the Lord is how I will always remember him! 

I will never forget that 6th grade year at camp and the word that God spoke through Pastor Chuck! It changed my life!  

Pastor Chuck gave his life to serve The Lord! He really did fight the good fight and now he is in heaven receiving the prize of JESUS! The one he loved and served and tought others to do the same! 

Many prayers for his family!

Kaleberry smoothie

So this the snack of the day in the Price home. Filling, delicious, and lots of Vitamin A and C for a boost!

3to 4 stocks of dinosaur Kale
Handful of Raspberries
1-2 frozen bananas 
3 leaves of Romain lettuce
Rice milk
One orange
Orange juice
Add liquids to get desired texture and top with hemp seeds.

Romaine smoothie:

This green smoothie was a hit!
So this cutie will not eat bananas, but freeze them, add some romaine lettuce, oranges, and a splash of rice milk and he gobbled it down! Thank you Lord for smoothies! Here is the recipe
One head of romaine lettuce (cut end off)
1 oranges
1-2 frozen bananas
splash of rice milk
top with hemp seeds
Put it all in the blender and mix until desired consistency.
Enjoy!

Blackberry hemp seed smoothie

BlackBerry Smoothie:
BlackBerries
blueberries
1 tbs goat yogurt
Rice milk to desired consistency
Two to three handfuls of spinach 
one orange
*Blend together and serve; top with hemp seeds. 
It is awesome when your four-year-old comes up and asks you to make a blackberry smoothie! It is equally awesome that when you get fast food they remind you how unhealthy it is because that is what you are training and teaching them! I love that my kids are learning the importance of moderation and the importance of making choices to feed their bodies healthy the majority of the time so that occasional treats are not on obsession or a habit! It's not only great for them but it's great for us! Great accountability and great lessons on the power to choose and the self control to resist! Self-control is something I pray that we have as a family and individually in the area eating and more importantly in the area of abstaining from things that are not edifying or pleasing to the Lord! It is In the small areas of life that we wanted to have self-control that gives us the practice and discipline to have self-control in the big areas of life! 

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, long-suffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.  Galatians 5:22, 23

Healthy lunch: Veggie Chia sandwich

This is a veggie open faced sandwich that I had for lunch last week. I topped it with some Chia seeds just to try it. It wasn't bad! I would definitely do it again! The sandwich also had hummus, lettuce, tomatoes, and mung bean sprouts. Real/plant based food is really delicious!

Balsamic Basil Pasta

This is pretty easy, plant based, and delicious! 

*whole wheat pasta (you could use regular or gluten free too)
* heirloom tomatoes diced 
* fresh basil leaves
* balsami vinegar 
* pine nuts 
* nutritional yeast (bought in the build section at natural foods stores)

Instructions:
Cook pasta according to directions on package and let cool a little. I prefer it cooled because I like my tomatoes crisp...but I have had it both hot and cool. You could do whichever! 

In a large bowl toss pasta, basil, and balsamic vinegar. Add tomatoes and litly toss again. Sprinkle with Balsamic and Pine nuts or nutritional yeast! Yum!

Day 24

Day 24... Almost there! WOW! That really went faster then I though! 
Breakfast: Today I only had Juice (Kale, apple, Carrot) I was in a hurry and that is what I had time for! Better then my past of just skipping breakfast! DON'T Do that! It's so important to have breakfast! It gets your brain, metabolism, and body going for the day! 
Lunch: Today we had Veggie sands for lunch. Avocado spread on bottom of the toast, topped with sprouted lentils, tomatoes, and brags amino acid
Dinner: Tonight we had veggi pizza. (We have had this way too much, but it's been crazy so it's better then getting the normal cheese with whatever toppings). It's a growing process and this is growth!

Day 23

Day 23
Breakfast: Today was whole grain cereal and carrot and kale juice
Lunch: Bean Salad
Dinner: Pinto Bean Tacos
* So today I ate out twice. Once with my sweet friend and once with my sweet hubby.
I was able to get a really good salad at the restaurant that we went to after a museum visit. 
Then for dinner my hubby and I stopped by this restaurant and I was able to get pinto tacos with corn tortillas. When I got home I added some avocados, tomatoes, and hot sauce. 

It was so good to know that I could find some healthy options while still enjoying time to "go out" to eat. It's all apart of changing our habits! 

Instead of ordering something off the menu I asked for a side of pinto beans and a side of corn tortillas. Much cheaper then a meal and I was able to make some delicious tacos. 

I have to remind myself that....
I can Have it... but I don't WANT it. 
Not I can't have it and I want it.
I can have it, but I DON'T want it! 

Yep! Learning, Growing, Sprouting! THat's what life is all about!

Day 20, 21, 22,

Sorry all! So busy this last week with school. To be honest we did not stick directly to Plant Based with a few crazy nights we ate out and our choices were very limited. We tried to choose as healthy as we could, but not much plant based was offered. However This is what we did eat and learn...
We had whole grain blueberry pancakes, Juice, and water. 
Salad with Peanut dressing 
While rice soup with avocados and Hot sauce. 

We had veggie tacos one meal
Thai style saldad and wild rice
PBH sandwiches and fruit
cereal
Avocado toast
Veggie Sandwich
Celery and PB

Learned: 
If we are in a bind or need to stop for something quick it's more about changing our habits. Instead of driving through why not stop in a grocery store and grab some fruit, hummus, and veggie sticks at least to hold us over until we can get to somewhere that has healthier options. This is my goal. This can be hard when you have 4 kids and the car is one load crazy chaos full ride, but like I said, it's changing habits.

Learned:
* eating out made us feel HORRIBLE! Our stomachs hurt and we felt awful!
* I don't sleep well when I don't eat well! Weird... but I even have bad dreams when I go from eating healthy and clean to eating something processed or yucky. Crazy how food effects you!
* Don't let a busy schedule ruin your stride!
* Don't get too down about a unhealthy choice, just dust yourself off and try again! :) Really tho! Just start fresh the next time! Don't let it get you in a rut! Keep moving forward! There is much to celebrate in the choices you have made!

So this is what we are working on. Changing our habits! However, stilling success! Look at all the yummy and whole foods we ate! Much victory!!!

Last night I was trying to make a quick and healthy meal. This is what I came up with...
Sprouted corn tortilla with pear and cilantro. We topped ours with hot sauce too. The kids loved them and so did we!

Day 13

Breakfast: Juice
Lunch: Whole Wheat Flat bread toasted with sun-dried tomatoes, olives, and Basil! Delicious! I love this recipe. I use to add cheese to this too. I bet goat cheese would be good. 
Dinner: Creamy Avocado Pasta: Tonight I made it a little different. I cooked whole wheat pasta according to directions then blended: Avacado (one large), one juice of a lime, 1/2 juice of a lemon, a handful of fresh basil, two cloves garlic (add less if you don't want it too garlic tasting, but we love garlic), almond or milk of choice to get desired consistency. Pour over hot pasta and I added a few pine nuts. It was so so yummy and everyone was asking for more! I love when I hear, "Mommy this is so yummy!" and it's healthy! Praise God for real food! I also added green beans both cooked and raw with Brags amino acid and garlic. It was delicious raw and cooked! 
Today was a good day. Feeling better and knowing real food provides real fuel. God is amazing in His design for our bodies!
